Triumph of Glass Candy Friday, May. 20, 2005 Glass Candy played the best show I have seen in Athens in a year, maybe a couple. It really could be up there with the best shows I've ever seen. It's hard to describe, but every single thing/element they did, it was like whoa, take me on a ride. It was like seeing Steppenwolf in their prime, but out of time. The drummer was sick. The singer sang in a place that is kind of like the way I like about Royal Trux but better screaming. It was funny contrasting that moment with feeling awkwardly sick at every other moment. I figure I'll always like the documentary better than the dramatization, but I'm still pretty excited to see the Lords of Dogtown movie even though it looks a little cheesy. If I ever go see the Hitchhiker movie, this will start to be a very movie summer! In other news, I haven't seen as many stripe variations in a while. A good thing. I missed Cathy though last night. Matthew's a butterfly at SIDS shows, so I just sat on the wonderfully padded bench, looking around and downing ice cold water. |
