Classical Psychophysics Lab

1. Detection on 50% of the trials is usually used to determine the threshold value using the method of constant stimuli. However, the module on the Exploring Perception CD uses detection of 75% of the trials to determine an upper and lower threshold value.

2. My upper and lower threshold values are 215.78 and 226.99, respectively. These values contain the lengths of the stimuli that were judged to be longer than the standard bar.

3. My interval of uncertainty is 11.22.

4. A differance threshold is the smallest differance between two stimuli that a person can detect.

5. My differance threshold is 5.61.

Signal Detection Theory Pre-lab

1. d' is sensitivity.

2. B is response bias/criterion.

3. A liberal criterion will make the probability of a false alarm or a hit high.

4. A conservative criterion will make the probability of a false alarm or a hit low.

5. How well a person can hear can affect d'.

6. Payoffs can affect B.

7. Both partners should run in all conditions, since that would make complete ROC curves for each person and actually determine how sensitive each of them is.
