One before, one after

Forgotten loose leaf
Monday, April 1, Year 2002
I wrote this on paper last Friday:

"I was reading 'The Mythical Man-Month,' and then I looked up, and I saw a jet flying far away in the light blue sky. Then, I began to hear the air conditioning of the Science Library as my neck muscles began to relax.

As I kept watching the jet stream, I saw a bird glide by in the opposite direction. I watched both cross paths and disappear, and then I wrote this down and sloutched, and now I am going to get up and go outside."

Actually, I didn't immediately go outside. I opened another book, wrote down "Illiac IV" and "Cray-1", and then closed the other book. I re-read a quote I had written down at the top of my looseleaf:

"I believe the critical need to be the preservation of the conceptual integrity of the product itself. These chapters explore both the diffuculties of achieving this unity and methods for doing so."
